In partnership, the Fargo Public Library, Moorhead Public Library and West Fargo Public Library welcome Lisa Westberg Peters, author of Fractured Land: The Price of Inheriting Oil, for a visit and presentation to conclude the 2015 One Book, One Community reading project. The author visit is set for Tuesday, Oct. 6, starting at 7 p.m. at the Stage at Island Park (333 4th St. S.). This event is free and open to the public. All seats are general admission, so seating is first come, first served. A book signing is also planned as part of this event; books will be available for purchase.

Peters’ memoir “Fractured Land” delves into her family’s history of risk-taking as immigrants on the northern prairie. The book also looks at the history of oil production in western North Dakota and how the discovery of oil has brought both opportunity and unforeseen environmental consequences to the region. All three area public libraries have copies of the title in print and eBook format to check out. For more information about the One Book, One Community project and related resources visit any participating public library or go to www.1book1community.org.

A Minnesota writer, Lisa Westberg Peters is the author of many children’s books, including several geology-related titles. Trained as a journalist, she now works as an academic writing tutor at Metropolitan State University in St. Paul.

This project is generously supported by the Friends of the Fargo Public Library, Friends of the Moorhead Library, Friends of the West Fargo Public Library and Moorhead Community Education.
